This cruise will visit and dive the Alor Strait for 6 days, from North to South:the
islands of Pantar, Kumba, Ternate, Pura and the Bay of Kalabahi. The very clear and nutrient rich upwelling waters brings in pelagics: sun fish (mola-mola), reef sharks and sometime hammerhead sharks, sailfishes. Whales also frequently pass through the strait.
Walls, drop offs, boomies and pinnacles are colorfully colored (one dive site has a bottom literally covered with anemones). In Alor critters can be encountered in colorful reef environment and in the black sand bays of Kalabahi and Biang. The second part of the cruise we will cross the whole Flores Island to reach Komodo.
Komodo national park is one of the greatest dive destinations, and one of the most diverse and rich marine environments in the world. These Small islands fringed with sandy beaches are home to the famous Komodo dragon that you may see patrolling the beach or viewing you from a rock.
The coral reefs in the north of the park are rich with colorful combination of hard and soft corals. Be delighted with the schools of anthias, wrasses, majestic angelfish, and also large predators –reef sharks, tunas, and giant trevallies-
Komodo offers a wide range of diving experience: high voltage current dives, gentle drift dives, walls dives along colorful drop offs, monumental boulders, seamounts, pinnacles and sandy slopes. You can also see Manta rays, turtles, and sometime even whale sharks.
Remark : Itineraries and dive sites choice in Komodo are highly dependant on tides and meteorological conditions. Many dives have to be performed at a particular moment of the tide and the South of Komodo may be difficult to acess if the winds are too strong. For these reasons the itineray displayed here is not a fixed itinerary, but more an example of the multiple ways this cruise can be done.
